Services Offered at Tulsa Equine Veterinary Services
TEVS is proud to provide the highest quality service for your horses.
We strive to stay current on equine health issues and treatment, and to
provide the best care for your horse whether at your farm, our clinic, or
by referral to board-certified specialists. We seek to integrate
alternative and holistic modes of healing with traditional medicine to
provide the “best of both worlds” for your horse.
Preventive health care
- including viral testing and vaccinations, performance and preventive
dentistry, fecal testing and deworming, hoof evaluation and farrier
consultation, dietary and nutritional consultations tailored to fit your
horses’ needs. We participate in Pfizer’s
Preventicare program which will pay up to $5000.00 should an
enrolled horse require colic surgery.
Advanced diagnostics and treatment
- including portable and in-clinic radiology with a new high frequency
portable x-ray unit and recently added computed radiography allows
on-farm processing, tendon and soft-tissue ultrasound, joint therapy
including intraarticular injections as well as non-invasive treatments,
in-clinic care for compromised neonatal foals, short-term intensive
care, endocrine testing and treatment, hematology, endoscopy, and
laminitis treatment.
Breeding and reproductive services
-
including ultrasound evaluations, endometrial
biopsies and evaluations, culture and cytology, cooled and frozen semen
insemination, evaluation and treatment of infertile mares, reproductive
surgery, short-term mare boarding, neonatal and post-foaling
examinations.

Lameness and pre-purchase evaluations
- including thorough gait analysis, conformation and health
evaluation, complete radiographic evaluation, endoscopic exam and drug
testing for pre-purchase exams. Lameness exams include detailed
examinations, nerve and joint blocks, observation on the longe line and
under saddle, radiographic and ultrasound evaluation, treatment
recommendations and farrier consultations.

Performance dentistry
- using advanced techniques with complete visualization of the horse’s
mouth, gingival surfaces and periodontal tissues. Special attention is
given to balance and bit seat equilibration in performance horses.
Senior horses receive special care, with gradual changes made to avoid
discomfort and trouble masticating following dental corrections.
Computer record keeping makes tracking dental problems simple.
Elective surgery
- such as anesthetized castration, dental surgery, mass removal, tumor
biopsies, foreign body removal, periosteal stripping in foals, cosmetic
repairs, and hernia repairs in young horses. Surgical referral to
board-certified surgeons for orthopedic and colic surgeries with
follow-up care in our clinic or at your farm.
Alternative medicine
- complementing conventional care to bring the “best of both worlds”
to your horse. Acupuncture for diagnosis and treatment of chronic
conditions and prior to competitions, referral to certified chiropractic
physicians and massage therapists, nutritional counseling, physical
therapy recommendations, combined with traditional medical care to treat
the “whole” horse. We are happy to work with your veterinarian in
providing alternative care for your horse.

Laboratory
- test results are available on a short turn-around. Coggins tests may
be available as a one-hour test if needed. Critical care cases have
complete blood count and chemistry results in house. In-house
testing is also available for foal IgG , fecal, cytology, and semen
evaluation.

Emergencies
- are treated on-farm or in our clinic. We treat colic, choke,
lacerations, acute lameness, joint injuries, acute laminitis, illness in
adult and neonates, foaling emergencies ,eye injuries, tendon and
ligament injuries. We use board-certified specialists for consultation
and referral in an effort to provide your horse the best care available.
